Description:
The architects wish to re-use precast panels that were demolished for enclosing the new building entry area. This idea brings some cost savings and also reduces the construction waste generated from the demolition work.
To provide proper fitting and minimize guess-work in the field, these salvaged pieces need to be cut precisely to fit the building entry's shape and to match the shape and joint line of existing panels. The entry facade is modeled in Revit to determine the quantity, sizes, shapes and structural connections required for installation. A salvaged panel schedule is created based on the model.
Panel connectors to the building frames are designed for combined gravity and wind/seismic loads. They are quite simple and consist mostly of expansion anchors with steel angle bracing.
